Pampered Princess

Yes...it´s true...my mom gave me a manicure and pedicure last night (for those that missed it, she´s a hairdressor). I have french tips and little flowers on my fingers and french tips and paw prints on my toes....I´m adorable ;) The wild part though, is that she also shaved my legs!!! Most of you know I´m au naturale - well apparently it´s just not that acceptable here. I learn something new every day ;)

The food is improving daily - more veggies, and my language is coming along. Tomorrow we host a day camp for kids in the community, so I´ll let you know how it goes.

Next week we have to find our way through other communities and on to Asuncion - what an adventure :) And next Saturday-Tuesday we head out to visit another volunteer. Lots going on! I´ve only had one shot so far - rabies - and it wasn´t bad. I´ve definitely got mosquito bites, but no dengue ;)

Saw a poor, sweet, cute, little rabbit get slaughtered and skinned yesterday - it was a little disturbing. I´m getting over it....

Gotta run for now, but I´ll write when I can.
Love to all of you!
Lor

Your earings are now in Sangeeta's hands (possibly ears) -hopefully she got them.

Sounds like you are being exposed to all kinds of new stuff and that you are adjusting well. So what vegetarian dish did you make - are you secretly a veg missionary? Ha

We did get a "warm" day but the snow is still here. Uncomfortable hot weather.... sounds good about now.

Maybe I'll send you some dry ice and peanut butter soon.

Best wishes for now!

Hello my dear princess,
So.......gotta have the right appearance for the local culture, don't you? How many of your fellow female volunteers are jealous about your family placement I'd like to know.
Keep avoiding that dengue stuff, and hopefully minimize the mosquito exposure to cut the risk.
Good talking to you this past weekend, and glad to hear that in spite of limitations you're able to find enough to eat (even if they don't really understand why anyone would choose NOT to eat meat). Glad you're starting to understand more; especially when they start to talk about your eating preferences and chuckle.

love ys,

Dad
